Thank you for all the entries sent in for Premier Wine Training bursaries for WSET wine courses. I have decided to award the bursaries to the candidates who showed the most passion, and appear to have a definite view of how wine knowledge will make a difference in their personal and professional lives.
The recipients are:
Mary Croughan for illustrating how a WSET wine course will benefit her customers, more so than herself – a ‘rare opportunity that any sensible retailer would be a fool to let pass.’
Roman Mazur – for having the vision and tenacity to plant grapes in his native Poland, in order to add value back to land from which it is now difficult to earn a living. (Thank you for the photos, Roman!)
Kevin Murray for his belief in food and wine matching, and his desire to share that with his customers.
It is clear that many people regard a WSET wine qualification as a passport to a new career. I wish everybody well in their endeavours, and hope to be able to offer further wine bursaries at some point in the future.
Premier Wine Training’s WSET wine courses are held in Dublin city centre, and start on Tuesday 20th September (WSET Level 2) and Wednesday 21st September (WSET Level 3).
