WINE COURSE STUDENT:
“My first ever wine course was with Maureen in 2003. Largely due to her infectious enthusiasm, knowledge of the subject and excellent teaching skills I decided to go on and continue my studies; I’ve since completed the WSET Diploma and worked in the wine trade in the US and Spain. I have fond memories of my initial course and stayed in touch with some of my fellow students. Maureen is an excellent teacher who facilitates a professional and friendly training environment and I’d be happy to recommend her to friends, colleagues and drinks industry professionals.”- Raymond Magourty.
” I have to say a big thank you for allowing me to take the WSET advanced level course and for making it such a rewarding and fun experience. You are an excellent teacher and communicator and so clearly are passionate about the wine and spirits industry. I would highly recommend your courses to anyone who wanted to learn more about wine.” – Neil Ward, April 2013.
“As someone who went into the first class of your level 2 WSET course with some trepidation I can say without qualification that you made the required material both approachable and enjoyable with the occasional touch of humour without taking away any of the complexity that is necessarily part of any serious study” – David Breese, Dec 2012.
TRADE TRAINING
After contacting Maureen and discussing with her what I had in mind she could not have been more accommodating. She understood exactly what it was I had in mind and she quickly came up with material for training modules. She had no problem in using her knowledge and expertise to translate it so it was suitable to our restaurant’s standards. The training was interactive, fun and interesting.
In the staff’s own words:
- That was the best wine training I have ever had
- I learned more this month than I have done over a few years
- I feel so much more comfortable now in recommending and talking about wine to customers
I highly recommend Maureen to anyone that has the slightest interest in wine as her passion for the subject makes it so fun to listen to, and you realise that not only is wine enjoyable to drink, it is also enjoyable to learn about. – Josefin Andersson, Restaurant Manager in Saba Restaurant.
… She uses well-researched relevant background information along with personal insights and experiences to bring her audience on a great journey imparting knowledge along the way. It is so obvious that she enjoys this side of the wine business.
The real point of difference with Maureen is her ability to turn this knowledge and information into something which is commercially beneficial. – Declan O’Reilly, Key Account Manager, Gilbeys of Ireland.
COLLEAGUE TESTIMONIAL
I have worked in the wine business for 21 years of which I had the pleasure of working with Maureen for 15 of these years. I can safely say (without any fear of insulting the many lovely people in the industry) that I have never worked with a more professional, honest, sincere, hard working, fun and driven person in the business as Maureen . If you are considering a career in the business or you are just curious to learn more about this great subject, one of Maureen’s courses will have you “hooked” for life on wine, such is her passion for the subject. – Barry Geoghegan, Wine MBA.
CORPORATE TASTING
Maureen O’Hara was the sommelier for several of our corporate evenings for clients. She was both extremely knowledgeable and highly entertaining, not easy when faced with a lively audience of over 100 people, some of whom knew lots about wines and others who knew very little other than it tasted great!
She was a wonderful MC for each of our events, taking her audience through a host of wines and champagnes and at all times combining a superb professional attitude with an easy warm manner that fully engaged the crowd. I would have no hesitation in recommending Maureen to others and am looking forward to working with her again – Eileen Moroney, Head of Marketing, Brightwater Recruitment.
